Coach nolan huey is a lifelong swimmer turned swim coach looking to share his knowledge & expertise with you! His passion for this sport centers around the attention to detail & consistency it requires. he’s always looked at certain athletes and wondered how they were able to accomplish what they did in the pool. as he learned more about high level swimming, he discovered the answer is 3 pronged. it takes a combination of phyiscal abilities (strength / flexibility / coordination / endurance), mental abilities (how they approach training and racing in terms of attitude and effort), and technique (what techniques do they employ to make the best of their physical and mental abilities?). he takes an individual & unique approach with each athlete he coaches - because every athlete is different!
his coaching vision first began in his club swimming days when his coach, Chris Webb, inspired him to look at the sport from a different lens - approaching the sport from a more holistic perspective with on-land strength training. In college, at ohio northern university, Nolan studied exercise science and competed for 3 years on the swim team. in graduate school at auburn university, Nolan studied biomechanics and coached the swim team as the volunteer assistant coach, gaining valuable insight into how the body works & what the best swimmers are doing better then their competition. after a year of college coaching at depauw university in indiana, nolan spent just under 2 years at the race club where he learned the in’s and out’s of velocity testing & new coaching techniques from Gary hall sr. Now, he’s started his own private coaching business focused on teaching swimmers how to swim better!
